Travis' brother, Robby and his family just came to visit for a week in May. We went to St. George Island, and floated down the Wakulla River on Traci and Jason's pontoon boat where the kids got to swim with some manatee's (and alligators too :). We also did lots of hiking, herping, bird watching, and fishing too. As always, we had an awesome time hanging out with the Robbins' and Beyers. Hopefully we can get together again real soon. We love y'all!

There's nothin' cuter than these four day old little chicks. We ordered them from Murray McMurray Hatchery online. They just came in this morning, and the kids are so happy. I hope they (the chicks) survive! :)

Winter Beach Trip

The kids had Monday off from school for MLK Day, so we decided to head to my parent's beach house in St. George Island. The water was extremely cold, but the outside temp was 60 degrees. The kids had fun playing in the sand, searching for sea creatures and shells. It went down into the 40's at night, so we made a campfire on the beach every night. Lots of FUN!

Stephen and I got to go on a field trip to St. Augustine with the "EXPLO" (nerd) kids from the Grady county area. We got to stop in and say "hi" to Grandma Robbins.

Grandma is affectionately known as "grandma in the white house" by my kids.

Here is the gang at the Fountain of Youth. Like they need to go there! You know I was definately chuggin' it down though. Ironically, the water is the NASTIEST water I have EVER tasted! It had a rotten egg (sulphur) flavor to it. YUCK! I hope it will work! :)

We hiked up to "Lookout Mountain" in Montreat, NC. That is Caroline on a very steep part of the hike.

Here is the awesome view of the Montreat college campus from the top of Lookout Mountain. This is where I went to college for two years in '91-'92. I loved it and I miss all the nature beauty and fun that is there. It brought back some sweet memories!

The Busiest Summer Ever!!!

This has absolutely been the busiest summer our family has ever had. It started in March (Spring Break - not technically summer) with a week long trip to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Then five days at St. George Island Beach, Florida. Then Aim (as camp nurse), Stephen and Jacob spent a week at Camp Rockmont in Black Mountain, North Carolina (hometown of Brad Johnson). That same week Caroline, Katherine and I went to Wild Adventures in Valdosta, Georgia with Jason, Traci and family. Then we drove out to Utah on a three week trip. We went up through St. Louis, hit I-70 through Independence, Missouri, across Kansas, into Colorado and finally into Utah.

When we got to Utah our first stop was Moab, then up to the Provo/Orem area. We took roughly the same route back. We have now been home a grand total of 8 days and Traci and Jason have taken our boys scalloping this weekend. I have never looked forward to school starting so much in my life. I love my kids, but 6 and a half days in a mini van can test any dad's sanity.

AND NOW FOR THE PICTURES AND NARRATION.

The boys decided to go hiking in Pigeon Forge. They saw some old rusted out cars across the river from where we were staying. It appears that years ago the cars ran off the canyon road that runs higher up on the mountain and crashed into the valley below. The boys said they saw the skeleton of a body in one of the cars. I didn't believe them, but was too lazy to go check for myself. I'll let Robby take a look the next time they go to Tennessee with us.

Stephen, Aim and a bunch of the nerds from Stephen's school went on a trip to St. Augustine, Florida as part of the EXPLO ("Gifted") program. I find myself constantly reminding Stephen to NEVER, EVER put academics above sports. For those of you who don't know him very well, Stephen received the Presidential Physical Fitness Award and about a dozen other athletic awards at the end of school year awards ceremony.

We traveled to Laurie and Jim's house in Elba, AL where we went to Bradley's 3rd birthday. We met at the recently constructed Tiger Park in downtown Elba. Laurie, my sister, spearheaded the construction of the park last year. We had an awesome time as always chillin' with the Chapmans.
